An injured star finally made his return on the October 10 episode of WWE SmackDown.
The latest episode of the blue brand emanated from Perth, Australia, and featured Sami Zayn defending his United States Championship in an open challenge. Answering the challenge was none other than Shinsuke Nakamura, making his first televised appearance in months.
However, the King of Strong Style wasn’t able to pick up the win in his return match, as he was blindsided by an attack from Tama Tonga, who made a surprise return from injury to cost Nakamura the match.
After sending Nakamura into the crowd, Tama turned his attention to Sami Zayn, who soon found himself surrounded by the rest of Solo Sikoa’s MFTs. All four men proceeded to brutalize the reigning United States Champion before Sikoa arrived to stand tall with his faction.
Later in the show, Solo and his group confronted the Wyatt Sicks following their WWE Tag Team Championship defense against The Street Profits.
Tama Tonga had been out of action with an injury since April, having been written off television in a segment involving LA Knight on the road to WWE WrestleMania 41.
WWE SmackDown airs on the USA Network later tonight. Fans can check out WrestleZone’s full coverage of the show here.
