Andrade Denies Report About His AEW 2023 Departure

Andrade has fired back at reports about his 2023 departure from AEW.

He returned on AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary last week, attacked Kenny Omega, and joined the Don Callis Family. After his return, a report said he signed a new AEW contract. Since WWE released him last month, he wasn’t restricted by a non-compete clause.

It was also confirmed that he had no 90-day restriction and said WWE released him for multiple Wellness Policy violations over the past year. However, another report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio offered more insight on Andrade’s leaving AEW in 2023.

“Andrade gave Khan the belief he was staying, Khan believed they had an agreement for a renewal that wasn’t yet signed, he pushed him until the end, even though those in wrestling who knew him said he was going to WWE. Then his contract expired and he left.” [H/T: Sports Illustrated]

Andrade quickly responded on Twitter/X, denying Meltzer’s claims and criticizing his reporting. He wrote, “@davemeltzerWON You talk too much shit without proof, and Sir, I’ll only tell you one thing: when my contract with AEW ended, I personally went man to man to thank MR. TONY KHAN for the opportunity to be in AEW, and that’s all I’ll tell you. If I wanted to talk more, I would show you that you’re wrong about many things. But you keep killing the business! Yo le deseo lo mejor!!”
