AJ Lee‘s WWE return seems inevitable in the aftermath of a deleted tweet.
The real-life April Mendez has been the talk of the pro wrestling world for quite some time. Rumors of Lee’s WWE return gained traction after Becky Lynch interfered to help her husband Seth Rollins retain the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Paris.
This past Monday on RAW, Becky Lynch confronted CM Punk with shoves and slaps. In response, the “Straight Edge Superstar” delivered a verbal warning, a move purportedly planting the seeds for AJ Lee’s WWE return.
The controversial conclusion prompted the WWE Universe to fantasy book a match between Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch versus CM Punk and AJ Lee. A new report added credence to the rumors, with Wrestlepalooza emerging as the potential venue for this mixed tag team action.
WWE Shop references AJ Lee’s return in a now-deleted tweet
Amid all the speculation, WWE Shop appears to have spoiled Lee’s potential return. When YouTuber Wrestling Daze asked if WWE had AJ Lee’s merch for them to wear for SmackDown this Friday, they got the following response:
“Hey there! Of course, we wouldn’t expect that. With AJ Lee’s return to the ring, we are looking to have some ️[fire] gear hopefully in time for Wrestlepalooza. Be sure you’re signed up for emails and get the latest updates on new live inventory. Happy shopping!”
The tweet has since been deleted.
AJ Lee last competed for WWE back in 2015, teaming with Naomi and Paige against Natalya and The Bella Twins. She stepped away from the ring before returning as an executive producer on WOW — Women of Wrestling in October 2021. She left the promotion after her contract expired in 2023.
