John Cena has teased that he might go after the WWE World Heavyweight Title before retiring in a few months.
Cena has four months left in his retirement tour and 11 appearances remaining after his last appearance at the August 8th episode of SmackDown. He is currently involved in a feud with Logan Paul and is set to face him at WWE Clash in Paris.
John Cena, who was confronted by Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam, is also rumored to face The Beast at next month’s premium live event. Reports have indicated that WWE is bringing back the iconic ECW event, Wrestlepalooza.
The expectation is that Cena will battle Lesnar after he clashes with Logan Paul in Paris. Cena, who previously broke the record by becoming a 17-time WWE World Champion, may now be looking to extend his legacy even further.
He recently posted a photo of Seth Rollins’ World Title celebration from WWE SummerSlam on his Instagram account. Many fans believe this was a tease that Cena is targeting the World Heavyweight Championship and looking to claim his 18th world title before he retires.
Interestingly, current champion Seth Rollins even liked the post, hinting that he is ready for Cena if the challenge comes. Meanwhile, Rollins is scheduled to defend his title at WWE Clash in Paris in a fatal four-way match against CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight.
John Cena gets brutally honest about his first heel promo this year
John Cena shocked fans by turning heel earlier this year. However, his heel run lasted only five months before he returned to being a babyface ahead of WWE SummerSlam. During an appearance at Fan Expo Chicago (via Popverse), Cena reflected on his very first promo after turning heel.
He said, “I wasn’t upset. No, I failed. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. You can learn from failure, right? I went up there and bombed. Shit happens.” Cena refused to go into detail when asked. For now, he is focused on the 11 appearances he has left.
