WWE Reportedly Reviving Iconic ECW Event for September Show

WWE is reportedly planning to bring back the old ECW event Wrestlepalooza for its September premium live event.

AEW will hold its All Out pay-per-view in Toronto on September 20. It was reported by Dave Metlzer that WWE plans to run a premium live event on the same day. The show is expected to take place in Indianapolis, Indiana, going head-to-head with AEW All Out.

It was also revealed that the reported main event could feature a massive showdown between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. Another report from Dave Metlzer also claims WWE plans to run against AEW as part of a “full-court press” strategy, with TNA backing them to weaken AEW’s business.

Although names like Bad Blood and Over the Limit were rumored online as possible titles, WWE won’t be using them. Instead, the company plans to revive an old ECW classic. According to WrestleVotes, the September 20 event will carry the Wrestlepalooza name. WrestleVotes took to X, formerly known as Twitter writing, “September 20th, it’s a “Wrestlepalooza”…”

WWE will be challenging AEW next weekend, as NXT Heatwave is set for August 24, the same day AEW hosts Forbidden Door in London. Now, WWE is also reviving the classic ECW event Wrestlepalooza, which originally ran in 1995 and later returned in 1997, 1998, and 2000. Clearly, WWE’s counterprogramming against AEW shows no signs of slowing down.
