Jim Ross Believes His Contract Expires August 2025, Expects To Be Re-Signed By AEW

Jim Ross hopes to continue in AEW beyond his contract expiry next year after successful cancer surgery.

The WWE Hall of Famer has not been in the best health over the last few years. He suffered skin cancer in 2021 and had surgery to remove cancer on his hip earlier this year. His schedule slowed right down as Jim Ross battled against the disease, although he still called occasional matches.

However, he seems to be coming to the end of his troubles and is ready to continue his work with AEW into the foreseeable future.

Jim Ross spoke about his current contract situation on the Grilling JR Podcast. He revealed that once he has recovered from hip surgery, then he is fit enough to continue his AEW schedule for years to come.

“I think my contract expires in August.” Jim Ross said. “I don’t have any sense or feeling that I’m not going to be kept because of the schedule I do. I could maintain that for years to come, and I’m not saying that in a braggadocious fashion. This is what I do. This is what I was born to do.”

“As long as my heart is beating and I’m still healthy—and right now, quite frankly, I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. Once this wound heals and it’s getting closer and closer, I’ll be 100%.”

“I’m waiting for my hip to heal. After hip surgery… I’m not so sure I’d do that again, even though it was broken into pieces. I don’t know what’s worse—the healing process or breaking it initially. But I think I would have thought it through a little better or gotten a better orthopedic surgeon. I should not be in this much pain this long after the hip replacement.” Jim Ross said.
