Powerhouse Hobbs reflects on his return to the ring.
Hobbs ruptured his patella tendon in April, and the injury sidelined him for the next few months. He returned on the November 6 episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he was revealed as Ricochet’s mystery partner. They then defeated Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita.
Speaking with Raj Prasad for Uproxx Sports, Powerhouse Hobbs looked back on his return.
“It was one of those things where it let me know how special this business is, how special the fans are,” Hobbs said. “When it comes down to it, we do it for them. We do it for their entertainment. We do it for their reactions, we do it because we love it, [and]we all love to go out and perform in front of them. But then when they go ahead and give you that love back, man, it makes you want to go even harder.”
Powerhouse Hobbs On His Recovery
Hobbs also detailed his mindset following the injury before he commented on his recovery.
“I probably had a few days to be in my feelings and soak everything in,” Hobbs said. “But my main objective was to come back better than when I left. This recovery, I would get up at five, eat, in the gym by six on one leg for two hours, come home, eat, then off to PT for three hours a day, Monday through Saturday.”
Per Prasad, Hobbs said that his experience dealing with the injury humbled him, as he could not bend his knee. He noted that he was appreciative of his strong support system, which included Mark Henry, Sting, and Billy Gunn.
Powerhouse Hobbs is set to compete on the November 20 episode of AEW Dynamite.
