Mariah May Wants The AEW Women’s Division To Be A Bigger Part Of Shows

Mariah May assesses the AEW women’s division.

According to Orange Cassidy, the current AEW women’s division is the best ever assembled. Still, AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May wants them to be elevated even further, specifically by allotting them more time on AEW television.

“We have a lot of really exciting people,” May recently told Niko Exxtra. “For me as world champ, I’ve been asking for that competition. So I want these women to step up; I want them to try and step against me in promos and step against me in the ring. I want us to get more time on a pay-per-view. I want this title to be on every single pay-per-view; I want to get 15 minutes. That’s definitely my goal. I think our division is bursting with talent. It’s just about, over this next year, kind of pushing that through and being a bigger part of the shows.”

Within the AEW-ROH umbrella, May pointed toward the likes of ROH Women’s Champion Athena, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, and Harley Cameron as notable figure in the women’s division. On the topic of Storm, her former mentor, May noted that she was still a star, despite seemingly losing her mind right now.

“I think Toni Storm, even though she’s completely lost her mind, is such a huge star in her own right,” May said. “It’s almost like fun to watch. I always say she’s the dog with three legs. You watch her, you feel sorry for her, but you want to see her try to climb the stairs kind of thing.”
