AEW Dynamite Results (6/19/24): MJF Takes On RUSH

AEW Dynamite Results – June 19, 2024

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off a commercial-free match between MJF and RUSH.

MJF defeated RUSH

  • MJF hits RUSH with a teardrop brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.

Brian Cage, The Gates of Agony, and Hechicero appear on the screen. Cage announces that by order of The Elite, Hechicero will take on MJF at Forbidden Door.

Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe, and Dante Martin are backstage with Renee Paquette. Mark Briscoe says after he talked a big game last week and went out and lost the match for his team, he promises that won’t happen again this week. As Briscoe continues to speak, Jack Perry walks into the shot and walks away, and Briscoe tells him to get out of there. Briscoe hypes up O’Reilly and Martin, who leave with him. Renee asks Cassidy how he’s feeling, and he gives her a friendship bracelet.

An intense face-to-face between Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland on AEW Dynamite

AEW International Champion Will Ospreay and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland come out for their face-to-face. Will Ospreay says last week Swerve said he can’t carry the weight of both worlds, but Ospreay says he’s more than capable of that. Ospreay says he’s about to test Strickland because he’s the best wrestler in the world today.

Swerve Strickland says Ospreay already messed up because he’s the best wrestler in the world. Strickland says they have taken two different career paths for the last five years, and it all culminates at Forbidden Door. Strickland says last year at Forbidden Door, Ospreay needed help to beat Kenny Omega and questions if that’s what he’s gonna do this year.

Will Ospreay says he doesn’t need Don Callis or the family and he can do this by himself. Ospreay says what he did to Omega last year was only the beginning of the Summer of Ospreay, listing off a list of big names he took down. Ospreay says while Swerve had a “Hit Row,” he had a hit list, and he took out every single one of them.

Will says just because he retired one move doesn’t mean he can’t beat him with another, and whatever move he chooses to use, Swerve will wake up the next morning without his title. Strickland says he doesn’t go by “what ifs.” He goes by certainties. Swerve reminds him that this is his first pay-per-view main event.

Things get personal…

Strickland says this AEW World Championship will consume him, and he’s trying to warn him. He says he’ll have to sacrifice his wife and son. Ospreay says not to mention his son again and not to make this personal. Prince Nana calms things down and tells them to save everything for the Forbidden Door. Nana asks whose house it is. Ospreay says it’s his house and tries to leave.

But Strickland once again invokes the name of Ospreay’s wife and son, which has the two men go face to face, screaming at one another.

The Don Callis Family is backstage. Trent Beretta is upset about what Ospreay said. Callis says he knows Will Ospreay better than anyone, and there’s nothing to worry about; everything is going to be fine.

Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Dante Martin defeated Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Zack Sabre Jr., and Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom)

  • Orange Cassidy hits Roderick Strong with the Orange Punch to score the pinfall victory for his team.

Jack Perry attacks Dante Martin on the stage as Mark Briscoe and Konosuke Takeshita get involved and brawl to the back. Orange Cassidy and Zack Sabre Jr. have a stardown in the ring after the match.

A video package plays for Mercedes Moné, hyping up her match with Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door.

RUSH is backstage angry about his loss earlier on in the show, and Don Callis says something to him in Spanish, which seemingly makes him even more upset.

Before the Eliminator match between The Young Bucks and The Acclaimed, Kazuchika Okada cuts off Max Caster’s microphone.

A new match made official for AEW Collision

Samoa Joe and HOOK try to jump the Premier Athletes in their locker room, but they aren’t there. There’s a letter from Smart Mark Sterling challenging them to a trios match on Collision. Joe, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata accept the challenge.

Mariah May hosted the contract signing between Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa at Forbidden Door. May said this match was going to be very difficult for her, but she loved them both. Mina told Mariah to shut up and told Toni Storm that, as champion, she’d gotten soft and weak.

Mina says everyone wants her, and nobody wants Toni, and she’ll take Storm’s title and her girl at Forbidden Door before signing the contract. Toni Storm says if Mina raises her voice at Mariah like that again, she’ll slap her bloody tits off.

Storm says chin up, tits out, and watch for the shoe before signing her contract. Mina says Mariah must choose between them, but before she can, she’s interrupted by Saraya, Harley Cameron, and Anna Jay, who attacks from behind. The trio of women try to put them through a table, but Storm attacks them all with the shoe. Storm tries to hit Saraya with the hip attack but goes through the table instead. May and Mina watch this all go down from the stage.

Willow Nightingale appears on the Tron and congratulates her on her win. Nightingale points out she has Serena Deeb this Friday on Rampage, and after she wins, she’ll see Statlander in the semi-finals.

Private Party is backstage with Renee Paquette, and it’s announced they have a match on Rampage against Komander and Gran Metalik. Chris Jericho says they cheated last week to attack them last week and tried to give them advice against the Luchadores. Big Bill says Private Party made quite the first impression but those aren’t always good, and says he’s looking forward to their tag team match on Collision. Bryan Keith tells them they better respect Chris Jericho.

Daniel Garcia defeated Rhett Titus

  • Daniel Garcia hit Rhett Titus with a double hook Lungblower to score the pinfall victory.

Brian Cage, The Gates of Agony, and Hechicero attack Garcia and Daddy Magic after the match. MJF hits the ring to make the save but is overwhelmed by the numbers game. This brings out Will Ospreay, who helps MJF clear the ring. MJF and Ospreay bump into each other and go face to face. MJF leaves, and Ospreay shows respect to Garcia, teasing a future title match between the two men.

Will Ospreay is backstage, and Renee Paquette asks him about MJF. Ospreay says he doesn’t care about MJF, and he went out there to help Daniel Garcia. Brian Cage storms in and screams at Ospreay. A title match is made between the two men for Collision on Saturday.

It’s time…for the main event!
