Shota Umino looks to be out for of action for a month after suffering with an injury.
The New Japan star has grown leaps and bounds in the past few years. He was taken under Jon Moxley‘s wing as a young lion, being given the name “Shooter”. He has grown into a top performer since then, and the connection with Moxley has earned him opportunities to compete in AEW in recent weeks.
The Japanese star is believed to have suffered the injury during his match on AEW Rampage last week. He faced Rocky Romero on Friday, but was forced to pull out of the New Japan Soul show on Sunday.
The nature of the injury was unknown, until he revealed the severity on Twitter. Shota Umino Tweeted about his injury, revealing it he is suffering from a hip fracture and a strained L45 disk.
He revealed that this injury will force him to take a break from wrestling for a while. However, he claimed he will “definitely be back” in time for the G1 Climax, which begins on July 20th later this year.
On Twitter, Shota Umino wrote (in Japanese and translated into English);
“I had a hip fracture and a strained disk. It’s the L45 disc. I also had an MRI done. I’ll somehow get back to Tokyo tomorrow. I will definitely be back by G1. I’m going to take a break for a while. Sorry.”
