AEW have Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale and Prince Nana representing them at the “House of the Dragon” premiere.
The AEW Champion wore his championship belt on the red carpet event, which was hosted by HBO. He was then flanked by his manager, Prince Nana, and former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale at the event.
The trio represented AEW at the premiere for the second season of House of the Dragon, which took place in New York City. The spin-off of Game of Thrones begins in two weeks time on June 16th on HBO Max. Therefore, the cast of AEW were drafted in to help promote it.
The event took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Wrestling fans will be very familiar with the venue. It was the host of some of ECW’s biggest shows and greatest moments, before their demise in 2001.
AEW promoted the show this past week on Dynamite, with a special promotional match. Swerve Strickland defeated Killswitch in a “House of the Dragon” match, in co-operation with HBO. He celebrated the win by walking the red carpet, and flaunted his world title belt for the cameras.
Willow Nightingale didn’t have the TBS title belt with her, as she dropped the belt to Mercedes Mone at AEW Double or Nothing last week.
Swerve posted photos of the trio at the event to Twitter.
‘What’s the worst match you’ve ever had? And is it on YouTube?’
During a recent interview with WrestleZone, Willow was asked to pick her worst match ever. Surprisingly, she said she actually does this with newer wrestlers as a bonding experience.
“This is actually a thing I like to do when I am around either new wrestlers that I’m hanging out for the first time, and I’m trying to get to know them. And we are all either hanging out in a hotel room after a show or whatever. I’ll be like, ‘What’s the worst match you’ve ever had? And is it on YouTube? And can we watch it right now?’ So I obviously, always if I’m the one asking, have to initiate and be like, ‘Look, I’ll show you guys all my worst match.’”
Willow noted that her pick had more to do with the situation she and her opponent were placed in. Despite her “rough start” at CZW, Willow did not let it stop her from taking advantage of a valuable learning opportunity.
“Every time I went back to Dojo Wars, I got better. Then they had people there who would watch and critique and give us feedback. And so, to keep going back and hearing feedback and being like, ‘You’re doing better,’ was rewarding,” Nightingale said.
