Don Callis calls Will Ospreay “special” after big win over Bryan Danielson.
“The Invisible Hand” had the best seat in the house for the pair’s clash at AEW Dynasty. He was on commentary to watch Ospreay beat Danielson, in what has been the called “The greatest match that has ever taken place in the United States“.
The 32-minute dream match saw Will Ospreay hit the Storm Driver 91, before adding a Hidden Blade to keep The American Dragon down for the three count. This was his biggest win in AEW yet, and one Don Callis was clearly thrilled with.
The Canadian took to Twitter following the incredible match. Don Callis praised Bryan Danielson, saying that he wrestled a “near perfect match”. However, he noted that is Ospreay is special, and part of something much bigger.
“Danielson wrestled a near perfect match. Dictated pace, style and intensity. But Ospreay is special and is part of something greater than one man.”
The “something greater than one man” could be the Don Callis family, which Will Ospreay is a key part of.
Will Ospreay Is Retiring The Storm Driver ’91
After seeing the damage it caused Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty, Will Ospreay has vowed to retire the Storm Driver ’91 from now.
Danielson seemingly suffered an injury after taking the move, with doctors worried about his health following the match. Ospreay didn’t realize, and hit his Hidden Blade before pinning Danielson to win the incredible match.
Speaking at the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, Will Ospreay confirmed he is retiring the move due to the danger is presents to his opponents.
“I’m super glad that everybody enjoyed the match,” Will Ospreay said. “A little bit of a dampener on how it’s all kind of, the dust has settled now. I’ve reviewed the footage myself. It seemed that Bryan got hurt on the Storm Driver, and I didn’t see the doctor call. The referee called for the doctor, and I didn’t see it. So I want to apologize on that.
“Obviously, within the confines of wrestling, I do go, like I said, in the ring, it is more or less, it’s your life versus mine until you kind it see it staring at you in the face of what I did. Honestly, I feel awful about this. So even though 90% of the time that move’s been absolutely fine, seeing the damage that it’s kind of done, I’m gonna retire using the Storm Driver 91.”
