Last night at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, the TBS Title was on the line in a one-on-one match between the champion Julia Hart and Willow Nightingale. This was a very important match for both stars as it not only was about the TBS title but also tied into Mercedes Moné’s first match in the company. The winner of the TBS title match would potentially be the first one to wrestle the self-proclaimed CEO of AEW.
Willow Nightingale, after putting up a tough fight, managed to pick up the win to become the new TBS Champion. Following her win, she showed up at the post-show media scrum and addressed her championship victory.
The newly crowned TBS Champion mentioned that she is happy to have been able to win the championship in front of her family.
“I feel like, you hear about people becoming champions, it’s maybe a little redundant but it’s only because it’s true. It’s like, it’s unreal. I was a wrestling fan since I was a kid. And… I don’t know… Much to the dismay of my parents at times, who are here, mom, dad, I got my sister over here at the side. They came out to support me today. And this is always what I wanted to do. So, to be here, and to now be the face of TBS, it’s surreal but it’s also not. It’s reality. And l made this happen. So, yeah, I feel very invigorated,” Willow Nightingale said.
Willow Nightingale will be having her rematch against Mercedes Moné at AEW Double or Nothing.
