One of AEW’s newest signees is the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay. While he has had many feuds throughout his professional wrestling career, the most talked about rivalry is between him and The Cleaner Kenny Omega.
It was announced at the AEW’s Full Gear Pay-per-view that the Aerial Assassin has officially signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion. He has made several appearances on Tony Khan’s promotion before. Will Ospreay also battled Kenny Omega in a one-on-one match at the 2023 AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
But before their encounter in AEW, the two had battled in NJPW as well. But a recent clip shared by a fan reminded folks both Ospreay and Omega had gone to war in the independent circuit as well. It was a clip of the two wrestling at PWG back in 2015.
Upon seeing the clip, Ospreay shared his thoughts on the match. He also advised other wretlers to travel and go all over the world and create opportunities to battle other stars who are more talented and experienced than them.
“The video itself is why I you need to go out and travel the world wrestle guys WAY more experienced then you. Experience the art of learning & being out of your comfort zone. I remember feeling so out of place at these shows but wanting to learn. I don’t even recognise me ?,” Will Ospreay tweeted.
Will Ospreay had a fear ahead of his AEW Full Gear appearance
Recently, the Aerial Assassin was interviewed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. During the interview, Ospreay shared that he was struck with a brand-new fear right before he made his Full Gear entrance. He was a tad bit petrified wondering if fans don’t know his entrance theme song.
“This was a new type of fear. It was completely different from wrestling. Even if you’ve never seen me wrestle, I’m confident that I can do something dazzling and make you remember me. But I couldn’t do that at Full Gear.
“As I was waiting, I asked myself, ‘What if people don’t know my entrance music, Elevated?’” Will Ospreay said. “Then, when Schiavone was talking, it went real quiet. That was scary. There was this murmur, then the music hit. That reception was truly overwhelming for me. People were genuinely happy to have me, and I felt it the moment the music hit.”
