Wes Lee has earned his rematch.
In the main event of WWE NXT on November 28, Wes Lee was tasked with facing three former NXT North American Champions in Cameron Grimes, Bronson Reed, and Johnny Gargano. Per the deal that Dominik Mysterio made Lee on November 21, if Lee could win that four-way, he would get another shot at the North American title at NXT Deadline.
In the closing moments, Bronson Reed attempted to go for the Tsunami when Ivar made a surprise appearance to attack Reed. The two brawled to the back, allowing for the other three to continue competing. Ultimately, Lee hit Grimes with the Cardiac Kick to score the pinfall victory.
Mysterio dethroned Lee for the NXT North American Championship back in July. Trick Williams briefly won the title in September, however Mysterio regained the gold just days later. Meanwhile, Lee was unsuccessful in his pursuits for the NXT Championship, but he turned his sights back to the North American title upon returning on October 31.
