There is no pairing in professional wrestling right now like Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Swerve Strickland recently sat down with Alicia Atout. When asked when he’ll break down and do the Prince Nana dance on AEW Dynamite, Swerve said it would be tough to do right now with his current character.
“Hmm, oh that’s tough,” Swerve Strickland said. “The only bit of dance I have given you all was on the Big Pressure remix video that we put out. That’s like the little bit of taste that you got, but man, I’m on like some Undertaker deadman shit as far as pro wrestling goes. So it’s like dancing right now is like, uh? It’s kind of cool because I want people to kind of anticipate it.
“Maybe there might be a time where it’s like, is it gonna happen? I don’t know. That’s one of the things you got to kind of tune into, and I like those little nuggets of people waiting for something like that to happen. So you just gotta keep tuning in and watch episodically. Like anything could happen, but Nana is on a groove right now, and I just want to keep boosting him and elevating him when it comes to that.”
We are the spotlight
Some fans on social media have claimed that Prince Nana is stealing Strickland’s spotlight with these antics, but he doesn’t see it that way.
“People are gravitating to him like crazy city to city, they’re gravitating to it. So I’m not going to fight that,” Swerve Strickland said. “I’m not going to deny that. I’m going to put fire behind it. Put him out there. Like I said before in another interview, there is no wrestler-manager dynamic like this. So let’s blow it up to as much as we can.
“And I don’t care about the spotlight being stolen. I don’t think there is; we are the spotlight. And even if he is like, cool! Like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in basketball. Klay Thompson can drop 60 points on you at any given moment.
“It doesn’t take away from Steph Curry being a star. Steph Curry has dropped 50 points too, and it doesn’t take away from Klay Thompson being one of the greatest shooters of all time. They both can have their hot nights. It’s just whoever has the hot hand; feed them. There’s no ego as long as we win at the end. That’s all I care about.”
