Sadie Gibbs is heading back to Japan.
Last month, Sadie Gibbs told WrestleZone’s Ella Jay that she had been in touch with a wrestling company in Japan about possibly working with them for future dates. Now, that booking has been solidified.
Announced by Gibbs herself (via Twitter), the former AEW star will return to Japan in early 2024 as she makes her debut for Chigusa Nagayo’s Marvelous promotion. The specific dates for Gibbs’ Marvelous arrival have yet to be revealed.
Gibbs’ last visit to Japan took place in early 2019, prior to her signing with All Elite Wrestling. There, Gibbs competed for STARDOM, another notable all-women’s promotion, facing the likes of Jamie Hayter, Bea Priestley, and Mayu Iwatani.
Joshi Style
During her recent conversation with WrestleZone, Gibbs opened up about her love for the Joshi strong-style of wrestling.
“I’m a very aggressive character, as you might have seen. I love connection,” Gibbs said. “I’m not afraid of connection. For me, when you’re in there, it feels so, I don’t know, you just feel like everything connects. Obviously like anything sometimes you’re not going to get that. But I just really enjoyed the style, I think, because I’m a very aggressive character and it just aligned with everything I’m about, really. I just felt the style was very much me. I’ve done a bit of MMA and stuff and it just really aligned with that. It was just my character all in, hard-hitting and strong.”
