Kevin Kelly‘s time with New Japan Pro-Wrestling is apparently coming to an end.
Kelly has been with NJPW since 2015; he has worked an as English play-by-play announcer for the company.
In response to a fan on social media, Kelly noted that he is leaving NJPW at some point soon. He wrote that he will leave it to NJPW to announce the news or not. Kelly stated that he plans to call NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku and Wrestle Kingdom/New Year Dash.
In another tweet, Kelly wrote that his wife of 32 years said she doesn’t want to be alone anymore, so that is why he made the decision.
When one fan questioned who could replace Kelly in Japan, he wrote, “Someone who can be in Japan all the time that has wrestling experience but is not affiliated with another company. Someone that can grow into and with the product.”
Kelly has been a member of the AEW Collision broadcast team since the show launched in June. During the G1 Climax 33 tournament, Ian Riccaboni filled in for Kelly when he was in Japan.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
