Hikaru Shida Sets Her Goals For Her Second Reign As AEW Women’s Champion

Heading into her new reign as AEW Women’s Champion, Hikaru Shida has a few goals in mind.

In comparison to her first reign, Hikaru Shida feels she’s leveled up a bit. In addition to now performing in front of an actual audience, Shida is motivated to speak in front of the fans as well — something she was hesitant to do before. During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Shida further explained the objectives for her second reign as AEW Women’s Champion.

“What I want to do in this reign is what I couldn’t before,” Shida said. “This interview is one of those. I really want to [do a] promo in the ring. That’s where I couldn’t before because of that worry about the English, but now I feel I can do that. And of course, I want to wrestle many girls in AEW, but I want to build more library. In Japan, we usually have many matches before the title match. We build the storylines and the fans’ excitement. So, I’m happy if I can do that in this reign too.”

Luckily for Shida, AEW fans are filled with excitement right now. Next weekend (August 27), AEW will head across the pond to host their All In event from Wembley Stadium. One of the featured matches will see Hikaru Shida defend the AEW Women’s Championship in a four-way match. In addition to Shida, Toni Storm and Saraya have also confirmed their spots in the match. Tomorrow night on Dynamite, Britt Baker and The Bunny will battle for the final spot.
