All Elite Wrestling superstar Samoa Joe is set to portray Sweet Tooth in the upcoming television series adaptation of the Twisted Metal video game series. Joe was such a fan of the role that he tried to take one of the masks home with him.
In the series and video game, Sweet Tooth is dressed as a killer clown that drives around an ice cream truck, complete with a creepy clown mask on his face. His look has made him one of the most iconic characters in video game history. Speaking to ComicBook.com, Samoa Joe joked that the props department wouldn’t let him take home one of Sweet Tooth’s masks.
“No, they wouldn’t let me [keep a mask],” Joe said when asked about the possibility of taking home a mask. “I made a vaunted effort to steal one off set, at points looking like Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible. But our props people are very good at what they do and they kept them all away from me. Probably because of the carnage I would wreak with the mask on. Don’t worry, Halloween’s coming up and I have ways.”
Alongside Joe, Twisted Metal also stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, and Will Arnett. Joe’s co-star Beatriz recently had praise for the wrestler/actor, calling him “a doll” in person, and a “really, really lovely person.”
Twisted Metal premieres on July 27 on Peacock.
Thomas Haden Church also spoke with WrestleZone about working with Samoa Joe on Twisted Metal. Haden Church also spoke about his Agent Stone character’s origins, a possible link to Spider-Man’s Flint Marko/Sandman, Chris Jericho and more!
