All Elite Wrestling delivered a star-studded show with the June 28 episode of AEW Dynamite.
A few days removed from AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Wednesday’s show featured several buzzworthy bouts. Sting and Chris Jericho clashed in a Tornado Tag Team Match, while Jon Moxley battled Tomohiro Ishii.
The results are as follows:
Jon Moxley (with Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Ishii and Moxley square off and trade blows. They keep exchanging stiff chops. The match is a stalemate early on. The two competitors keep battling as they exchange strikes. Ishii drops Moxley with a shoulder tackle. Moxley bites Ishii. Ishii bites him back. Moxley takes Ishii down with a shoulder block. Moxley sends Ishii to the outside. The former AEW World Champion dives onto Ishii at ringside. Eddie Kingston comes out and confronts Castagnoli and Yuta, who were about to gang up on Ishii. Kingston and Moxley briefly face off. Moxley continues to ground Ishii. The veteran rallies and drops Moxley with a forearm. Moxley and Ishiii exchange strikes again. Moxley hits a Gotch-style piledriver. A King Kong lariat earns Moxley a one count. Ishii drills Moxley with a knee strike. Moxley gets a two count with the Paradigm Shift. Ishii hits one of his own.
Moxley is busted open, but he keeps fighting. He drops Ishii with a cutter. Ishii levels Moxley with a clothesline. Moxley kicks out of the Death Rider. Moxley stomps Ishii and hits the Death Rider for the win.
Winner: Jon Moxley
Moxley walks right by Kingston on his way to the back. Kingston talks some trash, and they stare each other down before Moxley leaves.
Backstage, MJF approaches Adam Cole and congratulates him for getting sick and getting out of his match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, as he wishes he thought of that. MJF says Cole might not be good enough to beat him for the title, but they could be a great team. The champion pitches the idea of hanging out this weekend so they could bond. Cole reluctantly agrees. MJF reveals that he got them a tag team t-shirt.
Backstage, Renee Paquette asks Jon Moxley about what happened with Eddie Kingston. Kingston gets in Moxley’s face, and they argue. Kingston has an issue with Moxley siding with Castagnoli. Paquette tells Kingston to “fix this.”
In a video package, Kenny Omega comments on his loss to Will Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. He stated that it wasn’t over, as he’d be back.
Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, and El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker
Garcia and Vikingo start the bour. Vikingo showcases his impressive athleticism right away. He takes Garcia down with an acrobatic armdrag and a headscissors takedown. Cassidy and Parker enter the match. Cassidy takes Parker’s comb and puts it in his pockets. Cassidy fights off Parker and Menard. Garcia tags in, but Cassidy grounds him and double-teams him with Vikingo. Menard trips up Vikingo and helps Garcia gain the upper hand. Parker and Menard double-team Vikingo, and the Jericho Appreciation Society trio isolates him for a few minutes. Keith Lee tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. Garcia, Parker, and Menard gang up on Lee, and Garcia dances on Lee’s back before the big man fires up and takes control. Vikingo tags in and goes for a dive, but he accidentally lands on Lee. The powerhouse swings Vikingo into Menard and Parker.
Vikingo dives onto Menard and Parker. Cassidy and Garcia trade counters. Garcia gets a two count with a piledriver. Garcia locks in the Dragon-Tamer, but Vikingo breaks it up. Cassidy takes Parker out with the Orange Punch. Lee pins Menard with the Supernova.
Winners: Orange Cassidy, Keith Lee, and El Hijo del Vikingo
