“The National Treasure” Nick Aldis weighs in on Nic Cage’s National Treasure films.
In the wrestling world, Nick Aldis is known as “The National Treasure.” To the general population, “National Treasure” may resonate with the historical action-adventure movie franchise that stars Nicholas Cage. Has Nick Aldis ever seen National Treasure though?
Speaking with WrestleZone’s Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Aldis revealed his answer and uniquely compared the film’s appeal.
“I actually did [see it]. I think it’s a guilty pleasure film,” he said. “I certainly enjoyed the first one. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any of the others. I enjoyed the first one in the same way that you enjoy a McDonald’s occasionally. Let’s not think about let’s not think too hard about what’s in it. Let’s just enjoy the dopamine rush from it and move on. Let’s not spend too much time thinking about the substance, about stealing the Declaration of Independence, because it’s just that easy. The good sort of swashbuckling adventure film. Yeah, whatever.”
Aldis was also asked about the possibility of a third “National Treasure” movie being added to the franchise. “I don’t think I’ve seen the other, so I’m not sure I could comment on whether there’s room for a third. But hey, it’s business. If there’s a demand for it, go ahead,” he said.
While Aldis’ interest in the “National Treasure” series may be moderate, his interest to reclaim the IMPACT World Championship remains at an all-time high. After winning the 8-4-1 number one contender’s match at Against All Odds, Aldis will receive his title shot at IMPACT Slammiversary on July 15.
National Treasure 3 hasn’t materialized just yet but producer Jerry Bruckheimer says talks about developing the project are “ongoing.”
The Disney+ series, National Treasure: Edge Of History, was canceled after one season.
