AEW Rampage Results (6/16/23): Chaos vs. United Empire

All Elite Wrestling presented an action-packed episode of AEW Rampage on June 16.

As confirmed during the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay will be in action, after appearing at the end of the episode and attacking Kenny Omega. Tony Khan then announced that Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, and Kyle Fletcher of United Empire will face Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta, and Chuck Taylor of CHAOS on AEW Rampage. Ospreay will battle Omega at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Khan also announced that Bandido will face Konosuke Takeshita on Friday night.

The AEW Rampage results are as follows:

Match 1: United Empire defeats Chaos via pinfall

In the opening match of the night, the United Empire walked out with a big win for Will Ospreay. Throughout the match, Late in the match, after tagging in, Ospreay ignited the crowd and his team, hitting a big elbow strike on Romero, before things broke down into chaos.

All six superstars began hitting moves, before Fletcher ultimately ended things with a tombstone to Romero, which allowed for Ospreay to hit the Hidden Blade for the pin and win.

Match 2: Taya Valkyrie defeats Trish Adora via pinfall

In a relatively quick match, Valkyrie overpowered Adora for most of the match. Although Adora would get in some hits, Valkyrie ended things with a curb stomp, showcasing her dominance in the ring once again.

Backstage segment: The Hardys

Matt Hardy hyped up their match against The Gunns next week on AEW Dynamite, saying The Gunns will be a stepping stone for the brotherly duo as they march on to winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Match 3: Aubrey Edwards, Mark Briscoe, and Papa Briscoe defeat Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett & Karen Jarrett via submission

The mixed trios match started in a crazy way, with things breaking down and Karen and Edwards getting into the ring against each other after a quick start. Karen eventually backed off, allowing Jay to get in and fight with Edwards. Papa Briscoe eventually found himself tagged in as well, but couldn’t get a pin on Jay whn he had a chance.

After some more brawling, things broke down when Aubrey and Karen finally met in the ring. Karen attempted to gain the upper hand by raking Aubrey’s eyes and going for a guitar, which had been brought into the ring.

However, Aubrey dropped Karen with a kick and went for the guitar herself, but Lethal saved the day, jumping in front of Karen and taking a brutal hit to the head from Aubrey. Edwards then dropped Karen and locked her in a figure four for the submission win.

Backstage segment: Taya Valkyrie

Valkyrie spent some time gloating her victory against Trish Adora, and began talking some trash about Kris Statlander. Statlander then arrived on the scene, and the two began arguing about Statlander’s TBS Championship win.

Statlander said she’d defend the belt against anyone, including Valkyrie next week if she wants.

Match 4: Konosuke Takeshita defeats Bandido via pinfall

In the main event of the night, Takeshita took control of the match fairly early, nearly ending it with a Blue Thunder Bomb that ended in a near fall early. Bandido would eventually get some momentum after that, however, and got a near fall of his own with a big frog splash.

However, Takeshita used some underhanded tactics to flip the script, biting Bandido’s ear and then throwing Bandido into the rope, which Bandido countered by trying to hit a 21-plex, but Takeshita countered himself with a flip.

In the end, Takeshita would come out on top after finally connecting on a running knee after a handful of attempts, which he then followed up with a big knee for the pin and win.
