Keith Lee: My Goal Is To Make History And Win The AEW World Title

Keith Lee wants to win the AEW World Championship.

Lee had a successful run in WWE; he made history when he won the NXT Championship while he was already the reigning NXT North American Champion. Though his move to the main roster initially continued this momentum, Lee’s time on WWE RAW ultimately ended with his release in November 2022. Lee then signed with AEW and debuted on the February 9 episode of AEW Dynamite. Lee and Swerve Strickland gradually joined forces, and they won the AEW World Tag Team Championship on the July 13 episode of AEW Dynamite. Strickland later turned on Lee, and they have been locked in a heated rivalry ever since.

Speaking on The Masked Man Show, Lee was asked about his long-term goal, and he stated that he wants to make history by winning the AEW World Championship. He noted that doing so would be a historic accomplishment, and he’s confident that he can do it.

“Any place or any time an individual goes to, it doesn’t have to be sports-related, it doesn’t have to be physical. You go somewhere, most people, with goals or ambition, they want to be that number one talent, that number one person, that number one mind, whatever it may be,” Lee said. “The end goal is obviously to become AEW World Heavyweight Champion, and let’s be honest, I’m really good at making history. History in AEW would be a black World Heavyweight Champion. I’m more than capable of doing that, I’m more than capable of carrying myself in a way that would be befitting and beneficial to a company. Not to mention, I’m setting different standards in terms of what’s acceptable in this gross societal industry of people trying to tell you what it means to be beautiful or what it means to represent in a way that they deem as useful. That’s what I intend to do.”

Lee made his return to AEW on the February 17 episode of AEW Rampage and continued his feud with his former tag team partner, Swerve Strickland.
