Ricky Starks appreciates the fans of All Elite Wrestling saying he should be a pillar of the company, but he wants no part of it.
All Elite Wrestling’s Ricky Starks was a recent guest on The Wrestling Classic to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the constant pillar talk among fans in All Elite Wrestling, Starks admitted it’s something he doesn’t like and doesn’t want to be part of that conversation.
“It sucks, doesn’t it? It’s so, ugh, god, it’s like self-masturbatory; I hate it. I promise you Max [MJF] has never seen any type of All Japan. He probably don’t know who [Mitsuharu] Misawa is or Jun Akiyama. The thing about the pillar talk is this; I don’t want to be involved in it. I don’t want to be. I like most of those people in that conversation, and it’s a cool gimmick. It’s a cool shirt. It’s a cool tagline to run with.
“But to me? Heartfelt, I don’t like it. Because don’t put me in such a pigeonholed thing. You know what I’m saying? I stand above all of that in my head. There’s people that are like, well, Ricky’s old, so he can’t be considered a pillar. First off, alright, what’s old? That’s what I want to know. I’m literally 32, so give me a break. I put it online that I don’t want to be included in talks of pillars. It’s a very sweet gesture by fans. But it is so nauseating because it’s just so gimmicky and fake, and I hate it. I really do.”
