Ricky Starks will face Chris Jericho on the first episode of AEW Dynamite in 2023.
On the December 21 episode of Dynamite, Jericho interrupted Starks’ promo in the aftermath of his loss to AEW World Champion MJF the previous week. Jericho stated that Starks will be a world champion one day, but he’ll need some guidance to get there. Jericho tried to recruit Starks to the Jericho Appreciation Society, but the former FTW Champion rejected the offer and proceeded to mock Jericho. Starks challenged Jericho to a match, and “The Ocho” and his stablemates then ganged up on Starks until Action Andretti made the save for the fan-favorite.
AEW later confirmed the match on December 27.
