El Hijo Del Vikingo teases his interest in facing AEW star Kenny Omega.
Vikingo is one of AAA’s top stars, and he is the reigning AAA Mega Champion. He won the gold at AAA Triplemania Regia in December 2021, where he was set to challenge Omega for the gold. Once Omega vacated the championship due to an injury, Vikingo won it in a five-way bout. Vikingo recently secured a visa that allows him to work in the United States, and Omega returned to the ring earlier this year, so fans continue to speculate about the dream match.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Vikingo was asked about potentially facing Omega after their previous match fell through. He expressed his confidence that the third time will be the charm and teased potentially going to Omega’s house in AEW. Vikingo also noted that they could clash in AAA or somewhere in the middle.
“The third time’s the charm,” Vikingo said. “It’s not been two occasions that Kenny Omega and I were gonna wrestle, but for this and that it wasn’t able to happen, but now that I have the visa. So if he doesn’t come, then I go look for him. Expect some big surprises. Why not have ‘E Gran Jinete’ go and look for him in his own house [AEW]? My home AAA is always giving surprises, and I don’t know. Maybe in the future, I will go to his house, or him in ours, or somewhere in the middle. Vikingo competed at GCW Amerikaz Most Wanted on December 16. Outside of AEW, Omega is set to face Will Ospreay at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4. Meanwhile, he continues to compete alongside The Young Bucks in their Best of Seven Series against Death Triangle, which will continue on the December 21 episode of AEW Dynamite.
