Nick Aldis has been suspended by the National Wrestling Alliance due to recent comments he made about his status.
On Sunday, Aldis publicly announced that he gave his notice to the NWA and will become a free agent on January 1. Aldis said he would explain what impacted his decision at a later date, but now the NWA has taken action against him and issued a suspension.
The NWA issued the following statement to WrestleZone announcing Aldis’ suspension:
NWA response to recent statements made by Nick Aldis
Pursuant to the recent comments made by Nick Aldis, the National Wrestling Alliance, has suspended Aldis from the main roster and effective immediately Aldis will not appear for the Hard Times 3 PPV and Revolution Rumble television tapings in New Orleans, LA on Nov. 12, 2022 and Nov. 13, 2022.
As such, the National Wrestling Alliance reserves its right to comment on this matter at a future date.
PWInsider.com was the first outlet to report Aldis’ suspension.
Nick Aldis is a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and he has been featured with the company since Billy Corgan acquired it in 2017. Aldis was scheduled to challenge for the world title at NWA 74 in August, but he was replaced with Tyrus in the match. Aldis was advertised to face Odinson at Hard Times 3 but the match has been removed from the show. The NWA has not yet announced a new match or opponent for Odinson.
Aldis has since commented on the suspension, first responding to Billy Corgan’s recent remarks about why Empowerrr 2 hasn’t happened yet. Aldis then apologized to fans in New Orleans that expected to see him this weekend.
“Also, fans in NOLA: Sorry to disappoint but I was removed from the shows this weekend after giving my notice. I fully intended to fulfill my obligations to the audience but unfortunately the company doesn’t seem to share the same values,” Aldis wrote.
If some of you are wondering whether stuff like this factored into my decision to give my notice you'd be correct. https://t.co/WY6kQGIU2B
