Katsuyori Shibata is set to compete on AEW Rampage.
During the November 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy successfully defended his AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Rey Fenix and Luchasaurus. As a result, Cassidy was granted the opportunity to defend the title against his dream opponent on the November 4 episode of AEW Rampage.
After the three-way, Shibata came to the ring to save the champion from a beatdown at the hands of PAC. Cassidy offered him the open contract to challenge for the gold on Friday, and he put pen to paper. Shibata made his first AEW appearance at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June to save Cassidy from an attack at the hands of Will Ospreay and Aussie Open. The bout on Friday will mark Shibata’s first match since NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 4 and only his third contest since 2017.
