Ring of Honor will aim to have another pay-per-view by the end of the year, according to Tony Khan.
In March, Khan, the president of All Elite Wrestling, announced that he had acquired ROH after the company went on hiatus at the end of 2021. Since then, ROH has been integrated into AEW programming, and Khan has booked two standalone pay-per-views, Supercard of Honor and Death Before Dishonor. He has made it clear that he wants to bring ROH back to television, but the company hasn’t found the right deal yet. However, he says ROH is aiming to have another event this year.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Khan discussed ROH and teased that he’ll have “great news” regarding weekly shows at some point soon. He stated that there will be more ROH pay-per-views, and the goal is to hold another before the end of 2022.
“We’ll have great news soon about Ring of Honor weekly shows,” Khan said. “The success of Death Before Dishonor on pay-per-view has ensured there will be more Ring of Honor pay-per-views. Our goal is to have one more great pay-per-view for Ring of Honor in 2022 and then follow that up with a weekly show in 2023.”
Khan also discussed the decision to re-sign Chris Jericho, the reigning ROH World Champion, to AEW and emphasized that he’s one of the biggest stars in wrestling.
“Chris has set such a high standard for AEW,” Khan said. “He’s been a consistent star for us, and he finds a fresh take in everything he does. I’m a huge fan of Chris Jericho. I’ve followed his career for over 27 years, and I believe he’s putting forth one of the greatest years of his career this year,” Khan says. “He is one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling, and he is incredibly valuable for AEW.”
Jericho will defend the ROH World Championship against Dalton Castle on the October 18 episode of AEW Dynamite.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
