MJF looks forward to going to the highest bidder when it comes to his services in 2024.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Maxwell Jacob Friedman was a recent guest on KFC Radio to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the possibility of signing an extension with Tony Khan before 2024, MJF reiterates that he wants to be a free agent on January 1, 2024.
“I do want to be a free agent on January 1, 2024,” MJF confirmed. “So again, I’m going to wait till January 1, 2024 because I’m an intelligent businessman. And I do foresee myself winning that AEW World title, and what happens if my contract goes up and I have that championship? If I’m Tony Khan, I probably gonna have to pay this guy a lot of money.”
When asked if he concerns himself with what’s happening elsewhere, MJF said that he did and teased he would go to a new start-up company if they were the ones to pay him enough money.
“Sure. I concern myself where the moneys at,” MJF said. “I’ll go to a new company with a new founder that no one’s ever heard of if they’re willing to pay me the most amount of money.”
The host brought up the idea of just starting up his own company and calling it MJF Wrestling. Friedman loved that idea but said it would have to have significant financial backing because making money is the most important thing to him.
“I think that’s an incredible idea. And it’s something that I have brought up,” MJF admitted. “I do genuinely think that I’m a prodigy. And I say that humbly. And there’s probably no one in the wrestling world that knows more or has a better wrestling IQ than me. So of course, I’ve thought about it if there was financial backing and somebody said to me, ‘Hey, MJF, you’ll be the face of my company. And you can make the decisions. You make the calls. You decide who gets to go in the ring, who doesn’t get to go on the ring.’ [But] the most important thing to me is money. And if I can make an absurd amount of money without having to be stressed out of my effing mind? The only person you should worry about is yourself. If anybody tells you otherwise, they’re out of their mind.”
