United Empire is one step closer to the AEW World Trios Championship.
In the main event of the August 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, Death Triangle met Will Ospreay and Aussie Open in a pivotal first-round trios tournament match. The bout occupied the last hour of the program and featured a number of nearfalls to couple the impressive athleticism. The end of the bout saw the return of Kip Sabian as he attacked PAC at ringside while the referee was distracted. As a result, Osprey pinned Fenix to advance.

United Empire will now face Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in a semi-finals match on the August 31 edition of Dynamite. The winner of that bout will advance to the finals at AEW All Out to crown the first AEW World Trios Champions. On the other side of the bracket, Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends are waiting to learn the identities of their opponents.; on the August 26 episode of AEW Rampage, the House of Black will face the Dark Order in the last quarterfinal bout.
