Santos Escobar and Tony D’Angelo have been feuding for months, and it all came to a head on the special “Heatwave” episode of WWE NXT 2.0 on August 16.
“The Don of NXT” and Escobar, the leader of Legado del Fantasma, have struggled to coexist, as there’s only room for one of them in the proverbial “town” of NXT 2.0. D’Angelo’s faction defeated Legado del Fantasma at NXT In Your House, and as per the stipulation of the match, Escobar’s stable had to join the family. But Legado didn’t mesh with D’Angelo, as the group cost him and his group matches on multiple occasions.
D’Angelo subsequently put Escobar in the hospital with a beatdown, but he returned on the August 2 episode of NXT 2.0, where he cost “The Don” his match with NXT North American Championship. The two foes subsequently agreed to face off in a Street Fight, where Legado would earn its freedom if Escobar won. But if he lost, he would be forced to leave NXT.
To showcase the importance of the bout, Escobar came to the ring with a big-time entrance; he was wearing his mask again, and the group entered the arena together.

Both men threw everything they had at each other, and their respective stables neutralized each other at ringside. Later in the bout, Escobar took control with a dive to the outside. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo tried to interfere, but Cruz Del Toro blasted him with a cane. D’Angelo accidentally knocked Elektra Lopez over at ringside and proceeded to hit Escobar below the belt. They kept fighting. They went for their respective weapons, but D’Angelo got to his first. He blasted Escobar with a crowbar and pinned him for the win. As a result, he will have to leave NXT.
