The roster of WWE SmackDown got a big boost on Friday night with the surprise return of former NXT Champion Karrion Kross and Scarlett.
Karrion Kross attacked Drew McIntyre during the close of the show as The Bloodline watched on in the ring. Scarlett left an hourglass on the ring apron to let Roman Reigns know he wasn’t safe either. The appearance had the entire WWE Universe buzzing on social media all weekend long.
In an update from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, both Kross and Scarlett have been added to the internal roster for SmackDown despite not yet being added to the active roster page on WWE’s website.
The former NXT Champion is currently positioned internally as the number two heel on SmackDown behind Roman Reigns.
As for Scarlett, it appears that there aren’t any current plans for her to wrestle regularly, and will be used to manage Kross for the time being. It’s said the opportunity for her to wrestle is open in the future.
Johnson reports that following their release, there was “regular communication” between both sides and that Triple H coming into power worked in their favor.
Despite being back with the company, Karrion Kross and Scarlett are expected to complete their previously scheduled independent dates “as much as possible.”
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that WWE’s talks between Kross and Scarlett “picked up” last week, though they noted that they hadn’t heard from the company yet when asked in regards to a separate story as of Monday. Ross Sapp notes that they had never been signed to MLW contracts, and they hadn’t been locked into the dates with Control Your Narrative either. Additionally, he wrote that Triple H, who supports Kross, was “dismayed” by the way he was handled on the main roster in 2021. When Triple H was still leading NXT, Kross was featured as one of the brand’s top stars.
