Liv Morgan is perhaps best known in the WWE ring for her flair and style, in particular her incredible sneaker collection.
During a recent appearance on Complex‘s Sneaker Shopping series, Liv Morgan spoke about her influences in wrestling, listing WWE Hall of Famer and legendary superstar Lita as one of her main favorites growing up.
“I spoke about it a little before, I just grew up such a tomboy,” Morgan said. “So I didn’t feel like I related to the beautiful blonde on TV, I related to Lita, who would wrestle the boys. I would wrestle my brother, she wore baggy pants and sneakers, and that’s just something I related to. I felt like when I watched her on TV, I felt like she could be my friend, and that’s something that I hope to give my fans. I hope that they can see and feel like I’m their bestie.”
When it comes to her fans, Morgan also spoke about the influence she has over them, specifically how they try to dress up like her. According to Morgan, it’s something she loves seeing and she hopes that her own unique flair and style is something that rubs off on them.
“Super important,” said Morgan. “I hope that if I influence them in any way, it’s that they can be themselves, they can wear what they like. There’s no gender norm with clothing, you know, sneakers aren’t for little boys anymore, everyone can wear sneakers. And when I do see them, they have their little Liv shirts on, and they do have their Jordans, and their tear drops, and they just want to show me that they support me, so it’s cool to see them kind of replicate my look sometimes.”
Of course, Liv Morgan is not the first person in the world of WWE to wear sneakers, with legendary WWE superstar John Cena also having worn them throughout his career in the ring. When it comes to Cena, Morgan said that she was a huge fan of his, and perhaps he had an indirect hand in helping her choose her WWE wardrobe.
“I love John Cena,” Morgan said. “I thought he was the shit, I had such a crush on him. He would pump his little sneakers, I would pump my sneakers, I didn’t even have pumps…I thought he was amazing, and so he, I think, has been whether I know it or not, maybe a subconscious influence on my career, because he wore sneakers for a majority of his career. So I think maybe it’s something that kind of embedded in my mind, a reason why maybe I like to wear sneakers.”
