In a somewhat controversial finish tonight at SummerSlam, Liv Morgan defended her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey.
The match came to a surprise conclusion when Rousey locked Liv Morgan in a nasty looking armbar following various attempts to get her to tap out via submission earlier in the match. Morgan seemed to tap out initially, but the referee never saw it, and Morgan was able to stand up and pin down Rousey while she was still inside of the armbar, allowing the referee to count to three and declare Morgan the winner.
A stunned Rousey was irate following the match, and couldn’t be calmed down at all. As Morgan celebrated her win, Rousey attacked the champion, locking Morgan in yet another armbar for several minutes while Morgan desperately tried to get out of it. Afterwards, Rousey then locked the referee in an armbar, before letting go as WWE officials came running in to break up the situation.
