AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa wants to headline a pay-per-view.
Rosa reigns supreme as the champion, but she hopes to keep lifting the women’s division to new heights. She’s not the only impressive titleholder, though; Jade Cargill, the TBS Champion, is on a dominant undefeated streak in singles competition.
Speaking to Sportsnaut, Rosa was asked about a potential championship unification bout against Cargill, potentially in the main event of a pay-per-view. “La Mera Mera” responded by noting that she wasn’t sure about unifying the titles, but she’d like to compete in the main event of a major show.
“I don’t know about the unification of the titles, but if we can do, that would be very, very awesome, if we can do a main-event [at a] pay-per-view. That would be absolutely amazing, I think, and just being part of it. I was just part of a pay-per-view where I was part of the only women’s match in the card, and it’s a big deal. It’s a big deal. I feel like I’ve been put in very difficult situations a lot of the time, and we were able to rise to the occasion.
“Sometimes I don’t put a lot of thought in stuff. Honestly at this point, I’m enjoying the ride. I’m enjoying the moment, I’m enjoying being a champion, I’m enjoying bringing my championship and doing stuff like this so we can promote and represent women. Going back to Combate, they really push women, and a third of their roster is women, and they do nights where the women are the headliners, so it’s really cool that I can work with companies that are as progressive as that. I know Tony Khan has some plans for the future, and he sprinkles information. But I don’t know. We’ll see what he has in mind.”
As noted in the interview, Rosa does commentary for Combate Global, formerly known as Combate Americas MMA.
