Thunder Rosa always impresses with her strong ring gear game.
The AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa recently defeated Toni Storm at Forbidden Door to retain the title. There, she emerged with an ensemble of red, a beautiful headpiece, and her signature face paint. In a recent Forbidden Door post-show scrum, Rosa revealed more about the inspiration for her stunning gear.
“So I’ve been working on this [Forbidden Door] gear for probably about a year. I always tell Tony [Khan] ‘I’m gonna top the next year on the next pay per view and I’m gonna top the next one’. It has to do with cultures, sometimes it has to do with cosplay. I’m just very creative all the time and I like to create new stuff. But this one in specific, I really wanted to go for the Aztec Warrior, because you guys know I have a tattoo on the side of my leg, and that’s the Aztec warrior with MMA gloves because it’s just everything at the same time.”

Thunder Rosa went on to state her case for more special action figures inspired by each gear design:
“I’m already working on the next one. I still don’t know what it’s going to be but I like to keep it very interesting and also because I would like to have all the toys, right? I would like to have different special action figures for each cool design. It’s a nice way to make some extra money.”
All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan chimed in as well, noting his strong regard for two of Thunder Rosa’s previous gears:
“There are only a couple times I remember coming to you and saying I felt real strong. Two in particular were the original St. Patrick’s Day Slam that I felt really strong that if you went our and wore green that we could something really iconic. From the beginning we said, ‘I have to do something real special there’ and we did. Then we went back this year with the St. Patrick’s Day Slam and had the rematch in the cage with Britt [Baker] for the championship. Again, I felt really strong. You had to wear green again. You do a great job on the designs but on the St. Patrick’s Day Slams I think they’ve also been two of your very iconic appearances. I think you do great with it but also some of them have been associated with big events too.”
