PAC became the inaugural champion at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door; he defeated Malakai Black, Miro, and Clark Connors in a four-way bout, which was the final contest in a tournament for the title.
Umino also competed at Forbidden Door; he teamed up with Eddie Kingston and Wheeler Yuta to face Minoru Suzuki, Chris Jericho, and Sammy Guevara. Umino’s team lost, and Jericho blasted him with a fireball later in the show.
AEW president Tony Khan recently stated that he believes the title will be defended on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean; time will tell where PAC’s next defense will be.
