According to a recent report from Fightful Select, the recent release of WWE superstars on April 29, 2022 stems from budgetary reasons more than anything else.
The recent wave of cuts that superstars like Dakota Kai, Malcolm Bivens, Harland, and Draco Anthony, among others released, was reportedly done so due to budget cuts, which John Laurinaitis seemingly confirmed in an email sent out to Fightful Select when he noted that “due to budgetary cuts, and with immediate effect as of today,” the WWE would be releasing some of its stars.
The report also mentions that Kai was said to have seen the releasing coming, and had indicated to WWE that she did not plan on renewing her contract with the company. A similar case was made for Bivens, who was said not to re-sign his deal. Fightful Select notes that there was a “significant push within WWE Digital” to feature Bivens more.
WWE released also Paige Prinzivalli, Vish Kanya, Draco Anthony, and Raelyn Divine on April 29. In this grouping, Anthony, also known as Reginald Chase Crews, stands out because he has competed on WWE NXT 2.0 and WWE Level Up. He debuted on the February 1 episode of NXT 2.0, where he lost to Andre Chase. In his last match, he lost to Xyon Quinn on the April 12 episode of NXT 2.0.
Paige Prinzivalli (Blair Baldwin) signed with WWE in 2021, but she never made her television debut. The same goes for Vish Kanya (Sanjana George), Raelyn Divine (Jaylen Williams). and Mila Malani, Kellie Morga.
