Alberto El Patron‘s return to wrestling for a major promotion has been nixed before it could even begin.
According to Emily Pratt of FanByte, Alberto El Patron was scheduled to be Laredo Kid’s mystery partner at AAA TripleMania XXX. But prior to the show, AAA has decided to pull El Patron from the show.
Laredo Kid’s new mystery partner is scheduled to be “a wrestler from the American independent scene.” But whoever that is, remains a mystery at this time.
The original decision to bring Alberto El Patron in stemmed from former WCW star Konnan, who is currently one of the head bookers for AAA. Konnan believed that TripleMania needed a big surprise for the show but that there were no “long-term” plans for him in the company beyond this weekend’s show.
Sexual assault charges against Alberto were dropped in December after multiple delays due to a “missing witness.” In recent years, he has remained somewhat active as a wrestler in Mexico
