In-Ring Segment: Cody Rhodes
The WWE Universe showers Rhodes with welcome back chants. The crowd won’t let Rhodes get a word out. Rhodes finally speaks and asks the crowd what they want to talk about. Rhodes says that since he announced his free agency there have been whispers and rumors. Some think it was a hard decision, but it was not. The crowd cheers. Rhodes refers to himself as “the Star who left them in the Dust”. He’s signed a multi-year deal with WWE. Rhodes throws to the ‘Tron and an image of his father Dusty Rhodes holding the original WWE Championship.

Rhodes says he wasn’t just his father, he was his hero. Rhodes’s voice cracks as a Dusty chant breaks out. Dusty is holding the title that Hulk Hogan, HBK, Triple H, and many others went on to hold. That photo was on his father’s mantle until his last day. Rhodes says one day he mistakenly said to his father, “I didn’t know you were champion”. His father explained to him that he didn’t win the title that night. At eight years old he decided that he was going to win that title and hand it to his father. That opportunity has passed, or has it?

He may not be able to put that title in the hand of the American Dream but he can for sure put it in the hands of the American Nightmare. Rhodes’ intentions are clear. He’s ready. Finally ready. Rhodes is going to do it for himself, his family, and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Seth “Freaking” Rollins inturupts. Rollins dances around the ring before getting in Rhodes’ face. Rhodes drops his mic. Rhodes offers Rollins a handshake. Rollins stares at Rhodes before shaking his hand. Rollins cackles and leaves the ring. Rhodes looks pensive.
