Chris Jericho has declared that he is not a professional wrestler; instead, he’s a sports entertainer.
On the special “St. Patrick’s Day Slam” episode of AEW Dynamite, the former AEW World Champion hosted the official commencement of the Jericho Appreciation Society. The ceremony came one week after Jericho betrayed Santana and Ortiz to disband the Inner Circle. In doing so, he aligned with 2point0, Daniel Garcia, and Jake Hager to form the new faction
On the March 16 episode, Jericho explained that he has enjoyed so much success throughout his career because he’s a sports entertainer. He made it clear that this distinction puts him above the rest of the AEW roster because they’re all professional wrestlers. Garcia seemingly took issue with this claim before he also called himself a sports entertainer. Jericho then explained that the group members be called their real names, not the ones handed down by “bad creative.” He renamed Matt Lee “Daddy Magic” Matt Minard and Jeff Parker “Cool Hand Ang” Angelo Parker. “The Influencer” also looked back on his lengthy connection with Hager and called the powerhouse his “ride or die.”
Additionally, Jericho referenced his friend “Kevin”, a clear nod to WWE star Kevin Owens, as the reason he knew of 2point0 in the first place.
