As soon as rumors started swirling about Ronda Rousey‘s potential return to WWE, many fans predicted that “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” would feud with Becky Lynch once she came back. The two stars have been linked for some time now; in 2019, Lynch defeated Rousey and Charlotte Flair at WWE WrestleMania 35. Before the Royal Rumble premium live event on Saturday, Rousey hadn’t appeared on WWE programming since this loss.
At WWE Royal Rumble, Rousey officially returned and won the 30-woman battle royal to earn the right to challenge the champion of her choosing at WWE WrestleMania 38.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Lynch, the reigning RAW Women’s Champion, commented on Rousey’s comeback by noting that she has already beaten her. In Lynch’s eyes, she has nothing left to prove. Though they both had children since WrestleMania 35, “Big Time Becks” has already regained her place atop the women’s division, whereas Rousey has been absent for almost three years.
“Welcome back, welcome back,” said Rousey. “Congratulations on your new little youngster. I already beat her. I already beat her, so I’ve got nothing left to prove. I mean I’m still holding this championship that she gave me three years ago, almost three years ago. So if she wants to come and test herself against me…because she’d been at home for now what, two years? No wait, three years. She’d been at home for nearly three years of course because I’ve been the champion for nearly three years.
“Okay, I had a little baby in between too but anyway, so anyway, she’s been at home for three years. I came back better than ever. I don’t think anybody can doubt that I’m better than ever, better than [when] I left. And we’ll see how she’s doing. But like I said I’ve got no ring rust. She certainly does.”
As for potentially facing Rousey at WrestleMania, Lynch emphasized that she has already defeated the former champion. That being said, she acknowledged the excitement surrounding this potential dream match and stated that Rousey has to choose her own path forward.
“I mean I’ve already beaten her,” said Lynch. “Sure, sure, of course, that’s the match that people want. That’s the match that people have wanted for well, nearly four years now. And I think that would get them excited. And that would get me excited. But now it’s in her court. It’s up to her if she wants it. If she wants it, I’m ready to go.”
Lynch also noted that if Rousey chooses to face someone else, “Big Time Becks” will be just fine facing someone else. But if the two stars do collide, The RAW Women’s Champion warned that while Rousey might have become familiar with “The Man,” “Big Time Becks” is on a whole new level.
