MSK‘s “Shaman” on WWE NXT 2.0 was reportedly meant to be Jeff Hardy, rather than Riddle.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, prior to Hardy’s release from his WWE contract, he filmed “numerous” segments with MSK for the reveal of “The Shaman” character on WWE NXT 2.0.
Sapp states that WWE had to scramble for a new idea following Hardy’s release, and that’s how Riddle, one-half of the RAW Tag Team Champions, wound up in in the position. This last-minute change forced WWE to a rush to get the content with Riddle and MSK filmed before the reveal aired, just days following Hardy’s release, on WWE NXT 2.0.
Riddle is scheduled to team with MSK tonight on NXT New Year’s Evil to face NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium and WALTER in a six-man tag team match. SRS noted that it’s unclear whether this bout was the original plan for Hardy as well.
Jeff Hardy is currently waiting out his 90-day non-compete contract with WWE that will expire in early March.
