It appears that Colin Cowherd has turned over a new leaf.
Colin Cowherd, FOX Sports host and creator of The Volume podcast network, took to the airwaves on Monday to admit he was wrong… about professional wrestling. Cowherd, notoriously critical of the one true sport (and its fanbase) in the past, says he was in attendance on Saturday night and was really impressed with the spectacle of SummerSlam.
“I had a blast this weekend. I did an event for my new podcast company [The Volume] at WWE SummerSlam. I went and sat right next to Bill Simmons, had an absolute blast. [Looks at highlights from the RAW Women’s Championship triple threat match on screen] By the way, that happened right in front of me,” Cowherd said. “Right in front of me. Charlotte Flair, it was unbelievable.
“I know, I used to mock you wrestling fans and called some of you ‘booger-eaters,’ and some of you may still be, but I’m going to be honest,” he admitted. “I’ve got to be honest with you — the production of this thing, the electricity of 48,000 [fans]… can you buy season tickets to WWE?”
Cowherd closed the segment by saying he also attended the Manny Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugás match that night and said it was a good fight, but it “wasn’t even close” to what WWE presented at SummerSlam. Cowherd has been in attendance at WWE events in recent years, but it appears that SummerSlam made quite the impression on the controversial radio host, enough for him to admit that he’s a wrestling fan on national television.
