Kenny Omega Set To Defend AEW World Title Against Christian Cage At AEW All Out

After being named the No. 1 contender to the AEW World Championship last week, Christian Cage won’t have to wait long to get his title shot.

During tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was confirmed that Kenny Omega would be defending his title against Cage at AEW’s All Out event, which is set to take place on September 5, 2021 in the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Cage has been shooting up the rankings in recent weeks, and he has had his eyes set on the title for some time. Omega has been open about defending his title against anyone he deems worthy of the opportunity, and Cage has now earned a shot at the gold.

The match was confirmed ahead of a big six-man tag team bout in which Dante Martin, Matt Sydal & Mike Sydal took on the Elite. Though Omega and the Young Bucks were the clear favorites, the Elite struggled for chunks of the match before they emerged victiorious with a BTE/V-Trigger combination on Martin.

Following the end of the match, Cage made his way down to the ring to interrupt Don Callis. Cage revealed that he had spoken to Tony Khan and IMPACT Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore, and he proceeded to make a major announcement. In addition to his shot at the AEW World Championship, he’ll challenge for Omega’s IMPACT World Championship on the premiere episode of AEW Rampage on August 13.

Later in the show, PAC dared Andrade El Idolo to face him, and the latter chose All Out as his opportunity to show “The Bastard” he’s the boss.

The updated card for AEW All Out is as follows:

  • Women’s Casino Battle Royale
  • Kenny Omega (c) vs. Christian Cage – AEW World Championship
  • PAC vs. Andrade El Idolo
