MJF Not Looking Forward To AEW Fans Returning, Recalls How A Fan Dressed As A Pilot And Tried To Abduct Him

MJF is going to have to ‘deal’ with AEW going back on the road.

MJF was a guest on Busted Open Radio and the topic of fans being back at events was brought up. AEW Double Or Nothing will mark the first event in nearly a year that will have a full crowd in attendance, but MJF said it’s not exactly something he’s looking forward to.

Busted Open co-host Tommy Dreamer noted how MJF is the type of guy that might make a fan want to “feel froggy” and come at him, and MJF said he’s dealt with that plenty of times, including when someone actually tried to kidnap him. The Scum Salt Of The Earth previously told a brief version of the story to the New York Post last year, but went into more detail with Dreamer and Dave LaGreca, explaining how far the imposter got before his plan was stopped.

“It’s happened numerous times in my career, as far as people jumping over the guardrail. As far as in AEW, we actually had a very seriously crazy thing go down where somebody dressed up in a pilot costume and was able to get through security. Not our Atlas Security, they are absolutely spectacular and I know you’ve [Tommy] worked with them before, but it was the building security at the time. The guy got all the way to the back and he looks at me and goes, ‘Hey Mr. Friedman, I’m going to be your pilot today. I’m going to be flying you back to New York.’”

MJF explained that at the time, the fact that he’d have a personal pilot didn’t shock him because he’d flown on plenty of private jets (or ‘PJs’, as he put it) before that.

“So I thought to myself, ‘Oh, I’m going to go on that after the show, no big deal.’ And at the time, my father had actually had a heart issue, so I thought my boy TK was doing me a solid. I walk over to TK and go, ‘Hey man, I appreciate it.’ He goes, ‘What are you talking about?’ So now I’m confused, I walk back over to the guy, now this time with a bunch of security. I go, ‘Hey man, what was your deal again?’ and he goes, ‘Well, I’m going to fly you out, back to New York after the show’ and I’m going, ‘Uh-huh, got it…’

MJF explained that Rafael Morffi, AEW’s Head Of Live Events and Touring, looked at the guy and said he wasn’t flying anyone and asked for his pilot’s license for identification, ending the gag.

“The guy pats around on his body and goes, ‘I forgot it…’ and Raf goes, ‘Get him out of here.’ That guy hated me so much, his plan was to abduct me. Now what happened after that, lord only knows, I have no idea what his game plan was. What I’m getting at is this—I am not looking forward to crowds, nor do I care for crowds. Being in Jacksonville and Daily’s Place has been an absolute dream. I have not had to look at disgusting, mealy-mouthed worthless poors, I have been able to do my craft without the smell and the looks of disdain. So no, I’m not looking forward to touring. I think the word I would use for it is, I guess I will just ‘deal’, as the kids say these days.”
