Apollo Crews once again helped out Big E during tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, as the superstar saved the WWE Intercontinental Champion from getting assaulted, before helping him win an impromptu tag match, and then getting a title shot next week.
What started out as a singles match between Big E and Baron Corbin quickly evolved into much more following Sami Zayn’s interference late in the match. After Apollo Crews came out to help, the match was turned into a tag team match, with Crews and Big E getting the last laugh thanks to Crews landing a big enzuigiri and a huge power bomb onto his opponent for the win.
After the match, Big E and Crews spoke backstage, where Big E was interviewed and said that he would be a “fighting champion,” and would be holding an open challenge next week. Before he could say more, though, Apollo Crews quickly accepted that challenge, saying that it would be an honor to fight him for the title. Big E didn’t look the happiest about the decision, but the match is official and will be happening next week.
