Penta El Zero M has been making towns, but he’s only played a minor faction on the wrestling television product in recent weeks. Penta has been on both episodes of the last two AEW Dynamites and also successfully defended the AAA Lucha Libre Tag Titles with Rey Fenix at TripleMania XXVIII, but he has been used in limited capacity.
In the latest Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Penta sustained a leg injury injury while training. Konnan added more details on the latest episode of his Keeping It 100 podcast, noting that Penta is currently dealing with a calf injury. That will also explain why he was a small presence in the Death Triangle run-in this past Wednesday on Dynamite. It was reported last week by Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net that Penta was taken out early in his three-man tag against The Kingston Family two episodes ago on Dynamite due to a leg injury and still as of now, there’s no timetable for The Lucha Brother’s full-time return to in-ring action.
In the meantime, we will get to see Penta’s younger brother Rey get his shot at the AEW World Title and it’s arrogant champion, Kenny Omega. Rey happened to miss his Eliminator Tournament match against Omega also due to injury, but now he’ll face Kenny on the December 30 episode of Dynamite, presented as “Night 1” of “New Year’s Smash.”
